About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Network & Customer Service Technician to join our Drinking Water Services team to cover the Redruth, Penzance and Truro area.
In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and operating the water distribution network while delivering excellent customer service. You will take a hands-on approach to resolving network issues, responding to customer queries, and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of water services.
Collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders is key to maintaining service standards and customer satisfaction.
Due to the nature of the role, participation in a standby rota and flexible working arrangements is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high levels of customer service, taking ownership of customer enquiries and complaints through to resolution
- Maintain and repair water network assets to minimise supply interruptions and protect water quality
- Support the delivery of company performance commitments, including ODI and CMEX targets
- Complete risk assessments and maintain accurate records of all operational activities
- Respond to and manage supply interruption events, including mitigation activities such as:
- Safe zoning
- Alternative water supply deployment
- Ensure compliance with water quality regulations and maintain customer confidence in services
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the network, including:
- Managing burst main events
- Flushing and filtering
- Leak detection
- Pressure control valve maintenance
- Stop tap repairs and replacements
- Meter installations and replacements
- No-dig repair techniques
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and partners to deliver efficient and cost-effective operations

Progression & Development
This role offers a structured development pathway through a progression scheme (Levels 1–5). You will have the opportunity to achieve industry-recognised qualifications, including a Level 3 Diploma in Water Operations or Management, fully funded by the company.
Essential Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A–C, including Maths, English, and Science
- Experience working in standby or emergency response environments
- Strong IT skills (MS Office, GIS systems, work management tools, data logging)
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Willingness to work out of hours on standby
- Experience working in a physically demanding environment

Desirable Skills & Experience
- ONC, NVQ, or City & Guilds qualification in a relevant discipline
- Streetworks qualification (NRSWA units 2 & 10 – practitioner/supervisor)
- Experience in water distribution or similar operational environment
- Understanding of hydraulic water distribution systems or related technical field
