Business Development Manager – Doherty Associates
About Doherty Associates
Doherty Associates (DA) is an IT Managed Services Provider (MSP) delivering a broad range of consulting and managed services to a loyal and expanding client base. With a 33-year track record and ~100 employees, DA specialises in risk-focused sectors, including capital markets and legal, where security capability and service quality are highly valued.
We are:
- A top-tier Microsoft partner, with four Solutions Partner Designations (SPDs)
- Previously achieving 11 Gold competencies (predecessor to SPDs)
- ISO27001 & ISO9001 accredited
- Multi-geo 24x7 operation
- Cyber Essentials Plus certified
Our organisational profile makes us an attractive proposition—large enough to have depth of capability, small enough to deliver an engaging and intimate service culture.
About the Role
Hybrid working model: 3 days in the London office (Holborn) + sales prospect office visits.
This is a brand-new role within Doherty Associates, seeking a dynamic, tenacious, and self-motivated Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive new logo growth across the UK SME sector.
The Opportunity
- A pure hunter position ideal for a sales professional who ** thrives on identifying, nurturing, and closing new Managed Services opportunities** in a 12–24 month sales cycle.
- The standalone BDM role will be the engine behind new business acquisition, shaping the pipeline, opening doors, and converting high-quality opportunities.
- Unlike many MSP BDMs in larger teams, this role offers full ownership, entrepreneurship, and uncapped earning potential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
