Commercial Combined Underwriter – Glasgow

About the Position

We are looking for a Commercial Combined Underwriter to join the team at Arch in Glasgow.

This role will support income and profit objectives through the delivery of an efficient case underwriting service to brokers. This includes:

  • Regular on-site broker development
  • Technical management of the regional account
  • Support for regional strategy, financial planning, and personal objectives

Job Responsibilities

  • Generate Property & Casualty New Business, adhering to risk selection, appetite, and underwriting authority
  • Follow the 4 Call Process to maximise opportunities
  • Achieve Bottom Line, Top Line, and Expense targets by managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Enhance Arch’s presence locally by building and maintaining strong relationships with key brokers
  • Display strong negotiation skills to facilitate conversions and long-term partnerships
  • Contribute to technical knowledge by sharing market intelligence with the Regional Manager and wider team
  • Collaborate effectively with Claims & Surveyor Teams when needed

Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years' experience in New Business Underwriting (preferred)
  • Proven broker relationships & successful underwriting development -Ability to negotiate flexibly and align with risk pricing
  • Effective selling skills with a focus on consistently achieving goals
  • Experience working across functions/matrix organisations to facilitate collaboration
  • Operational efficiency with structured, organised planning
  • Clear & effective communication

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in the Commercial Insurance industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a structured, organised approach
  • Professional certification (progress towards ACII preferred)
  • Full clean driving license
