Here at LNER, we're shaping the future of rail on one of the UK’s most iconic routes. From our high-speed Azuma fleet to our next-generation trains, Serenza, this is a moment of real transformation for LNER.
We’re investing in cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and—most importantly—our people, to deliver outstanding experiences for our customers.

- Championing sustainability and excellence in rail travel.
Key Responsibilities

- Lead the programme’s safe, on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery, ensuring all milestones are met.
- Serve as the primary interface between LNER, Porterbrook, and CAF, managing relationships and performance across the supply chain.
- Maintain effective governance, risk management, and reporting processes, providing transparency and timely escalation where necessary.
Technical Oversight
- State-manage the train build, acceptance, and commissioning processes, ensuring stakeholder requirements are met.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
