Customer Assistant (Food Section) – Early Morning Position (16 Hours)
Work Pattern
This is a 16-hour, early morning role with shifts starting at 4:00 AM, including weekends. A full scheduled work pattern will be confirmed during the interview process.
⚠️ Under 18s: Due to health and safety legislation, we cannot consider applications from individuals under the age of 18.
💰 Unsocial Premium: There is an extra +£3.00 per hour paid for any hours worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
About the Role
Join Marks & Spencer (M&S) as a Customer Assistant in our Food section, supporting the UK’s fastest-growing retailer.

Key Responsibilities
You’ll be expected to:
- Work in a fast-moving, high-energy retail environment – no time for hesitation.
- Sell and recommend new products confidently to customers at pace.
- Handle multiple task requirements simultaneously including service, sales, stocking, and teamwork.
- Utilise digital tools like Sparks (our digital ordering system) and in-store tablets to improve efficiency and convenience.
- Provide seamless customer service, resolving issues with speed and empathy.
- Demonstrate flexibility – shifts will vary, and tasks may require multitasking across different store areas.
- Collaborate with a dynamic team to ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Attention to detail and high energy are essential.
- Familiarity with retail environments preferred but not mandatory.
- Digital confidence required – you must be proficient with basic POS systems like Sparks and in-store applications.
- Team player mentality – ability to work autonomously and support others.
- Commitment to late starts and early shifts, including weekends.
