Customer Assistant – M&S Food Section

Work Pattern

This is a 25-hour position requiring early morning and core shifts, including weekends, with shifts starting as early as 4am. The full work pattern will be discussed during the interview.

Under 18 Disclaimer This role involves working early mornings, so we cannot accept applications from candidates under 18 to comply with health and safety legislation.

Additional Pay: A £3.00 per hour unsocial premium is applied for any hours worked between 22:00–06:00.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing five-star customer service under pressure, especially during peak store activity.
  • Recommending and promoting M&S Food products, boosting sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilising digital tools (e.g., Sparks, in-store devices) to streamline customer experience and order fulfilment.
  • Working collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-energy team environment—balancing input with a supportive, customer-first focus.
  • Demonstrating flexibility by adapting across different store sections while adapting to changing demands.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised store environment to enhance the shopping experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure retail environment.
  • Basic digital confidence (proficient in using technologies like Sparks).
  • Team-oriented attitude with a will to support colleagues.
  • Strong customer focus and resilience to handle busy periods.
  • Willingness to work shifts before 6am, including weekends.
  • Must be over 18 years old.
