Customer Assistant – M&S Bakery Section
About the Role
Join our team at Marks & Spencer as a Customer Assistant in our Bakery section, where you’ll work at the "sharp end" of fresh produce under pressure, delivering precision and excellence every day.
As a hands-on brand ambassador, you’ll:
- Convey energy and attention to detail to every shift
- Deliver hot bread and five-star service to customers
- Maintain the highest standards in food quality, safety, and freshness
You’ll need to rise early, work quickly, and deliver under pressure to keep our bakery running seamlessly.
Work Pattern (RotatingShift Schedule)
All shifts require early starts, rotating weekly:
- Week 1
- Sunday: 04:00–12:00
- Friday: 04:00–12:00
- Week 2
- Monday: 04:00–12:00
- Saturday: 04:00–12:00

Key Responsibilities
- Managing demand to keep shelves stocked and customers satisfied
- Balancing speed with safety to ensure top-tier product availability, even during peak hours
- Adapting to store rhythms with flexibility—working across multiple roles as needed
- Collaborating closely with colleagues to deliver fast, high-quality results
Requirements
- Under 18s disqualified by legislation – This role involves specialist cutting equipment, so applicants must be 18+ for health and safety compliance.
- Full criminal record check (DBS/CRB)
- Five-year employment history reference check
- Candidates must pass health & safety training
