Are you a newly qualified or early career Clinical Psychologist looking for a role that will genuinely invest in your development?
This is a structured development post with a defined pathway to Senior Clinical Psychologist.
You work at our hospital in Baldock, either on a part time (30 hours) or full time (37.5 hours). The working hours are 9am to 5pm.
You will join a friendly, skilled and enthusiastic psychology and therapies team within a vibrant multidisciplinary team, delivering a comprehensive therapies programme to inpatients with a wide range of mental health needs.
As a department, we are working on a number of service development projects, including: trauma-informed care; making reflective practice more inclusive; and developing targeted psychological work for patients who are acutely unwell. Our team’s aim is for everyone at Nouvita to be touched positively by psychology – staff and patients! You will be involved in REC-approved research as well with the potential to have your name recognised in peer-reviewed articles.
A real development pathway!
Your starting responsibilities will be tailored to your experience and your progression criteria will be agreed with you as part of your personal development plan and not imposed on you. When you meet the criteria for Senior Clinical Psychologist responsibilities, your job title and salary will change to match. You will be supervised throughout by our Head of Therapies, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, with clinical oversight of all your work as you grow into service-wide leadership, consultation to the hospital's senior leadership team, and supervision of Assistant Psychologists and trainees.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
