About GB News
GB News launched in the UK in September 2021 with the mission of being the UK’s number one news channel by 2028. GB News is a fast-growing news channel across television, radio and online, delivering news and debate across media platforms while embracing technology and innovation.
As a start-up company operating in a well-established sector, GB News challenges traditional industry standards and continues to build a distinctive operating model in UK media.
Job Purpose
The role reports to the Head of Newsgathering and is a part of the News desk team. The main responsibilities are to gather news, deploy reporters and ENG crews to cover stories for our multi-platform output, and to liaise with the programming teams to ensure that our coverage meets programming needs. In addition, there are planning shifts where the successful applicant will be required to build a daily news agenda and assign resources.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
