The Opportunity
Eurogamer has built a reputation for delivering some of the best editorial in the games industry, spanning news, reviews, features, and guides. As our News Editor, you'll collaborate closely with our award-winning editorial team to lead its news output and expand its proven standards, while bringing a unique perspective to Eurogamer.
The News Editor will:
- Select and craft engaging stories for our audience.
- Edit news pieces contributed by colleagues.
- Work rapidly to tight deadlines.
- Uncover untold tales from gaming’s diverse communities.
- Conduct interviews—both in-person at industry events and remotely.
- Develop trusted sources to break exclusive stories ahead of competitions.
The ideal candidate will have senior editorial experience—including roles such as section editor, news editor, or equivalent—with a background in published news writing (preferably within gaming). A track record of discovering original investigative stories is essential.
This fully remote position (with occasional in-person meetings) operates on a standard full-time schedule, but may occasionally require working outside regular hours for major news events or big game releases. The role involves desktop work with extended screen and typing duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily news coverage, ensuring compelling, timely sourcing and prioritisation.
- Collaborate with the team to track industry announcements, conduct interviews, and scrutinise stories that resonate with readers.
- Deliver polished, clear, and on-brand stories—while maintaining a distinct Eurogamer voice—meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
- Actively engage with gaming communities to uncover unmissed opportunities.
- Pursue story angles with PRs, witnesses, and contacts to deepen analysis.
- Maintain rigorous CMS submissions to ensure presentation excellence.
- Partner with the entire editorial suite, complete with contributions to gaming’s most inventive humour.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
