News Technology Specialist – Video Production Technology

We’re dedicated to producing life’s most important stories across evolving formats, including expanding our video journalism across the breadth and depth of our reporting. Our team creates on-camera content highlighting Times journalists, delivers live news updates, produces ground-level reporting, publishes Visual Investigations, and crafts video podcasts.
We are seeking a News Technology Specialist based in our London office to help optimise video production workflows and resources for our EMEA VOD team, ensuring they remain efficient and cutting-edge for the team’s future goals. You’ll work closely with video journalists, producers, and editors, resolving technical challenges, upskilling the team on video production systems, and helping adopt new tools efficiently.
You’ll be the technical troubleshooter and bridge between our teams, translating complex production problems into seamless technical fixes while keeping the journalistic mission of independence at the forefront. About the Role
This in-office position is based in London, with regular attendance required four days per week. Some flexibility for remote work may be accommodated per departmental guidelines.
Responsibilities
- ** multidisciplinary troubleshooting**: Help solve technical issues with video production, post-production software, cameras, lenses, and audio equipment
- live operations: Assist with technical work for live streams, shoots, and pre-recorded content
- interviews & logistics: Support with booking high-quality feeds and remote interview productions
- process improvement: Recommend best practices to enhance video production
- studio maintenance: Ensure smooth operations of the video studio and general support for productions
- ** 동물cular, equationalics and media requests**: Coordinate or seek technical support for weekend and after-hours requests from teams across London, Seoul, and New York
- .reporting: Collaborative handoffs and alignment between the London, Seoul, and New York offices
- flexible duties: Manage other duties assigned by leadership for operational success

Qualifications
Basic
- technical proficiency: Strong video production and post-production experience, with hands-on expertise in workflows
- live media operations experience: Demonstrated record of solving high-pressure technical challenges in a digital news video environment
- video infrastructure knowledge: Broad expertise in systems for video ingest, transcoding, exporting, uploading, and archiving
- Adobe expertise: Advanced fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- IT & connectivity: Solid technical knowledge of networking and cloud-based technology
Preferred (Plus-Links)
- cloud video production: Hands-on experience with cloud-based video production tools and workflows
- MOGRT skills: Ability to build and customise Motion Graphics templates
- flexibility: Availability to perform flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
