NHL Europe Social Media Manager (Instagram)

Community & Social Media Manager – NHL Europe (Instagram) – Remote (UK-Based)

About the Role

IMG is a leading global sports marketing agency that helps over 250 sports and entertainment rightsholders grow revenue and engage fans through rights management, content production, brand partnerships, consulting, digital services, and event management. The role focuses on managing NHL Europe’s Instagram presence, targeting a young European demographic (18-30), primarily in English with occasional local language posts.

Full-time, remote-based (UK location) with this role being integral to STEM and fan engagement for the 2026/27 NHL Global Series, including key games in Helsinki and Düsseldorf.


Key Responsibilities

  • Daily content creation for NHL Europe (Instagram) through to the 2026/27 season, ensuring creativity, growth, and high engagement.
  • Collaboration with IMD’s GLOBAL NHL SOCIAL TEAM (7 markets) and the NHL Europe Social Media Team to maintain a consistent and entertaining daily presence.
  • Live game reporting and morning coverage (07:00–09:00 local) of key events (e.g., Stanley Cup highlights, Global Series games, regular-season updates).
  • Building and managing an engaged fan community via social media engagement, Q&As, and discussions—acting as the primary regional contact for community queries.
  • Expanding the NHL’s European reach through strategic influencer partnerships (big and small) to raise awareness among European hockey fans.
  • Content calendars, weekly editorial meetings, and social trends monitoring to adapt and innovate.
  • Broker collaborations with broadcasters and local fan clubs to reinforce NHL visibility across Europe.
  • Flexible hours for on-demand game coverage during the NHL’s season & playoffs.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Instagram specialisation: 3+ years managing large audience-based platforms.
  • European/NHL focus: Strong knowledge of NHL culture, players, and fans across Europe.
  • Content strategy: Ability to plan, execute, and adapt weekly social schedules with clear objectives.
  • Technical know-how: Proficient in post-processing tools (Adobe Suite, CapCut, Final Cut, WSC for live sports) and photo editing (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Tone & brand voice: Confident adoption of NHL’s social guidelines, GR compliance & cross-platform adaptability.
  • Biilingual skills: Fluency in English (spoken & written), local languages a plus (Danish, Latvian, Slovakian helpful).
  • Digital-first thinking: Preferrably less journalistic, more community-driven & trend-focused for modern hockey fans.
  • Influencer management: Extensive experience locating, building trust, and engaging micro- and macro-influencers on the platform.
  • Creative tenacity: A passion for hockey & the NHL, energy in creating high-quality, shareable content.

Practical Details

  • Working Model
    • ~3 hours/day (1–2 hrs early morning fan engagement / 1–2 hrs during key events)
    • Flexible timeline, prioritising Timothy Zone & playoff matches.
    • Live coverage required for certain events.
  • Workload Setup
    • Remote (UK-based).
    • Provision of mandatory subscriptions (Box, Emplifi, Slack) to support day-to-date IMG operations.
    • Your own computer recommended but not provided by the company.
  • Compensation
    • Monthly invoicing (contract rate applies prorated).
