Social Media Manager – NHL Europe TikTok
Location: Remote (based in a European market, speaker of English + local language preferred) | Contract: Freelance/Part-time
About the Role
Partnering with IMG, a global leader in sports marketing, this role focuses on growing, engaging, and energizing NHL Europe’s TikTok audience—a young demographic (ages 18-30) across European markets. You’ll cultivate excitement around local players, content calendars, influential partnerships, and league events while shaping a vibrant, interactive community.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Strategy
- Daily content production for NHL Europe TikTok, encompassing:
- Original ideas/ideation, guidance from team roadmaps, ads/brand partnerships.
- Adept at TikTok algorithm, trends, engagement growth strategies.
- Posting schedule aligned with peak engagement times (morning engagement, early/reactive posts for trades/games).
- Event-driven coverage, including:
- 2025/26 and 2026/27 NHL Global Series games in Helsinki/Düsseldorf.
- Pre-season reports, trades, Stanley Cup Playoffs, and Finals.
- TikTok-first tone of voice:
- Authentic, energetic, and inclusive. Brand-adherent while quirky.
- Must understand NHL marketing languages to reinterpret in TikTok-friendly hooks.
Community & Engagement
- Daily fan interaction via comments, DMs—proactively responding with creative engagement.
- Localized outreach:
- Partner with Europian hockey clubs, fan groups to amplify local/player content.
- Influencer collabs:
- Identify, engage, and manage micro/influencers promoting NHL content globally.

Operational & Tactical
- Execute weekly content calendar via marketing tools (Box, Emplifi, Slack).
- Basic video editing skills (Adobe Premiere/CapCut) required; familiarity with live event coverage tools (e.g., WHIP/WSC) a plus.
- Analyze platform metrics (insights, audience demographics) and adapt strategy iteratively.
Key Relationships
- Internal:
- NHL IMG social team (Lead, planners, other social managers).
- IMG Legal/legal affairs (for potential partnerships/event wire work).
- External:
- European hockey fans, fan clubs, and influencers.
Requirements
Essential
- 3+ years managing TikTok channels (preferably hockey/NBA-style sports audience).
- Proactive writing & video editing skills; understand:
- Short-form videos, captions, hashtagging.
- Industry-aware: news hooks, NHL.com/With The Cap highlights, International Sample content.
- English is your first language (proofreads content; grammar English-perfectionist).
- Local knowledge of Europe’s hockey scene; preferred if based in finpred: DE/AT/CH or well-read on DE’s landscape. Strong associative knowledge otherwise.
- Cultural agility – dynamic tone for ('Days of Independence'-style post),herinane Mohammad/A’inane content, etc.
- Flexible to evolve working hours (higher coverage during playoffs).

Preferred
- Analytics/DMFM tools finesse (e.g., StreamYard or TikTok Manager for queuing).
- Collabs experience (broadcasts, interviews, ASR plans + WIP).
- Video production skills (live + semi-edited) – story abordage, tighter double-taps.

Logistical Notes
- Hours:
- 4-6 hrs/morning (5am–9am European time) + discrete spikes for:
- NHL Kickoff, NHL Saturday venue, and ULC final games.
- Tech Stack:
- IMG will provide access to Box, Emplifi (recently acquired by Adobe), Slack.
- Autonomy: No top-down approval chains; approval mainly for major campaign intersections.
- Pay/Contract:
- Monthly invoicing under a fixed budget.
