Exciting Opportunity for NHS Lothian & NHS Borders Band 2, 3 and 4 Unregistered Nursing Staff
Are you a dedicated Band 2–3 Unregistered Nurse currently working within NHS Lothian or NHS Borders? Would you like to expand your experience and flexibility by joining the Staff Bank?
We’re inviting applications from current Unregistered nursing staff who are looking to take on additional shifts through the Staff Bank. This is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your skills, support your colleagues, and contribute even more to patient care across our Boards.

Please note: Band 4 Unregistered nursing staff applying to Staff Bank can ONLY work Band 4 Bank shifts in their current substantive area.
Eligibility Criteria
To Apply, You Must
- Hold a current substantive post within NHS Lothian or NHS Borders.
- Be in the same role as your substantive post.
- Have successfully completed your probation period.
- Be a Band 2, 3 & 4 Unregistered Nurse (e.g., Healthcare Support Worker).
Applying to join the Staff Bank means you are applying for a role equivalent to your current substantive post. If your substantive role requires a valid PVG, please ensure you already hold one before submitting your application.

What You’ll Need To Apply
To complete your application, please have the following ready:
- Your current NHS Lothian or NHS Borders payroll number
- Your National Insurance number
- Your PVG number, date of issue and whether it's for an Adult, Child or Both.
These details will be used to verify your employment status as part of the application process.
