Night Assistant

Job Title: Night Assistant

Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £26,227.50 per annum plus 10% Night Allowance Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week Working Pattern: 3-week rolling rota (4 days out of 7) Location: South Lakes Foyer, Kendal, Cumbria

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Night Assistant, you’ll ensure the safety, security, and support of Riverside’s customers during night shifts.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Operating security, fire, and telephone systems to maintain building safety.
  • Conducting regular property checks and reporting any repairs or maintenance issues.
  • Responding to security alerts, faults, or emergencies as needed.
  • Ensuring healthy living environments by cleaning communal spaces and rooms when necessary.
  • Monitoring visitor access and assessing support needs to ensure compliance.
  • Completing regular health & safety risk reviews and reporting concerns timely.

About You: Key Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience or willingness to work nights/lone shifts in a security or supportive environment.
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Word & Excel proficiency), with a readiness to learn organisation-specific systems.
  • Ability to organise tasks effectively while handling difficult situations calmly.
  • Knowledge of supporting vulnerable client groups or commitment to learning safe practices.

  • Lived experience of homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance misuse.
  • Experience using CCTV systems or managing building security protocols.
