Scope of Position

To act and interact with guests and team members in a way that creates a legendary experience in accordance with the Sofitel Values – Open Mindedness, Generosity, Excellence, and Joie de Vivre. Under the guidance and supervision of the Night Manager (or Front Office Manager in their absence), and within established Sofitel London St James' policies and procedures, you will oversee key front office activities such as check-in & check-out, auditing, room assignments, and front desk closure.


Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Ensure standards are maintained (and exceeded) against Sofitel Benchmark, Forbes Travel Guide, and LQA audits – guaranteeing our status as a top-tier hospitality destination.
  • 迎迎 all late arrival guests (within midnights–6am) with warmth and efficiency.
  • Provide 24-hour guest continuity, ensuring seamless service across all shifts – encompassing front-of-house interactions, technical solutions, and proactive concierge support.
  • Handle internal & external phone calls in absence of switchboard (including front desk forward), ensuring every inquiry is managed gracefully.
  • Manage all currency exchange transactions and foreign currency fluctuations while maintaining accuracy and guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct nightly credit length-of-stay checks for all in-house guests; escalate any issues / disputes to the Night Manager.
  • Conduct sleep station wake-up calls for hotel guests where direct handover is unavailable.
  • Immediate response times to guest correspondence ensuring no questions awaiting resolution by morning shift handover.

Guest & Service Experience

  • Complete and submit night audit workflows, incident reports, and operational logs with precision for shift handover.
  • Prepare next-day room documentation, including allocations and arrival protocols, in advance of the morning shift.
  • Address personalised guest requests (e.g., wake-up messages, room redress, unexpected service touches).
  • Take on full housekeeping/perp pre-shift thoroughness, ensuring reception, back office, and public areas adhere to Sofitel standards of aesthetic cleanliness.

Safety & Staff Advocacy

  • Theme’s safe and crime-sensitive environment by taking additional precautions during off-peak hours and in remote locations.
  • Acts as secondary point of contact assist with staff training, implementation of work rotations and ensuring all new hire onboarding documentation is up to speed.

Requirements

  • Relevant hotel experience is preferred (front office and/or night operations highly valued).
  • Strong numeracy & cash-handling accuracy required (full independence for petty cash reconciliations and loss prevention).
  • PMS (Property Management System) expertise and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite essential.
  • Demonstrated customer service mastery with ability to deescalate peak stress scenarios, complement shared service workload.
  • Thriving in high-velocity & solitary environments with minimal supervision during shifts; maintaining impeccable consistency even when attempting these nights independently.
