Care Assistant – [Full-Time] | Alderbrook Care Home, Leeds (Nightshift Available)

Salary: £12.71 per hour Hours: Full-time Benefits:

  • Paid DBS
  • Pension scheme

  • 5.6 weeks’ annual leave (pro rata)

About the Role

Alderbrook Care Home, a modern specialist Complex Care facility serving up to 140 residents, provides tailored support for individuals with advanced physical and mental health needs—including dementia, long-term health challenges, and mental health conditions.

As a Care Assistant, you will deliver safe, structured, and person-centred care with a focus on dignity, independence, and emotional well-being. This hands-on role demands patience, resilience, and empathy as you support residents with both their physical and emotional needs while maintaining consistency and professionalism.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Implementing individual care plans and structured routines.
  • Building trusting relationships with residents.
  • Recognising and responding to changes in health or behaviour.
  • Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care in a calm, stable environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care, mobility, and daily living activities.
  • Support mealtimes, medication administration, and structured routines.
  • Monitor and report changes in health, mood, or behaviour to the care team.
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities to promote well-being and reduce isolation.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and person-centred environment.
  • Work effectively in shifts—including night duties if SCN*—ensuring continuous care.

*SCN – Subjects to Night: applicable applicants only.


What We Are Looking For

  • A compassionate, respectful, and empathetic approach to care.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient under pressure.
  • Commitment to continuous learning in complex care environments.
  • Willingness to develop through training (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care encouraged).
  • Previous experience in care or mental health is beneficial but not essential.
