About the Role
Hull City Council seeks a playful, curious, and empathetic individual to support children living in Children’s Homes. Small acts of kindness, dedication, and tenacity make a significant difference. This vacancy is within the Disability Children’s Home, where you’ll work with children and young people who have complex health needs and disabilities, providing care during the night.

Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Providing personal, emotional, physical, and practical support tailored to each child’s care plan.
- Ensuring individualised care meets needs for children with learning disabilities and complex care needs, including:
- Dementia-related behaviours
- Autism
- Other physical and sensory impairments
- Ensuring individualised care meets needs for children with learning disabilities and complex care needs, including:
- Ensuring safety, security, and comfort while meeting a range of care needs, including:
- Personal hygiene tasks (dressing, washing, and bathing).
- Toileting assistance.
- Support during meals and drinking, including dietary needs.
- Collaborating with colleagues to develop individualised care plans, updating them based on ongoing assessments and changes in needs.
- Assisting in administering prescribed medication and keeping detailed records (according to council and home policies).
- Ensuring fire safety knowledge and following procedures (escape routes, evacuation checks).
- Maintaining health and safety compliance in line with The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (personal and workplace safety).
- Undertaking basic domestic and administrative duties to support a functional and child-friendly living environment.

Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated care experience, preferably with children.
- Ability to develop basic record-keeping and communicate effectively.
- Flexibility to adhere to home policies and potentially assist in emergencies.
- Commitment to ongoing training opportunities provided by Hull City Council.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: £24,796.00 - £25,583.00 per annum (Grade 3).
- Benefits:
- Complementary salary.
- Pension Through Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
- 23 days annual leave (building from 23 days upon length of service), including eight public holidays and additional leave days (one in May/August, one during Christmas/New Year).
