Job Title: Night CCTV Controller

Location: THE BEACON - EASTBOURNE

Working Hours: 4on 4 off, 41 hours per week

Pay Rate: Competitive

Role Overview and Purpose

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as main control point for all aspects of centre operations, including emergencies, with particular emphasis on safety and customer care. Emergencies and safety always come first, customer care second, and other routine safety checks or procedures third.
  • Act as first point of contact for all departments ensuring relevant, and clear information is passed to all concerned and issues escalated appropriately to Security/Centre Management as per procedures.
  • Ensure personal safety first while undertaking any task.
  • To monitor and instruct where required, other security personnel dealing (including response, preservation and collection of evidence and reporting) with incident(s)/issue(s) in the Centre.
  • Report and escalate incidents and issues/defects to Centre Management and Security Management, as appropriate and as per procedures.
  • Complete Incident Reports and Statements.
  • Update incidents on Over-C where applicable.
  • Undertake fire system testing as planned under the routine maintenance systems.
  • Isolate fire panel for tenants’ tests, isolate fire zones for engineers working on tenants’ fire systems, log all tests and engineer jobs.
  • Record activations of and response to all centre safety systems including, fire systems and intruder alarms.
  • To monitor all contractors attempting to work in the Landlord area, day or night, and to ensure they have been authorised by management prior to any works commencing. If no Permit to Work nor any information has been left for the visit, means there is no authorisation and access can be denied. However, please check with Centre Operations Manager or Security Manager, before turning away the contractor. You can call them after hours if need be.
  • To ensure visitors and contractors are signing in and ask them to sign out when finished.
  • Control all high-risk areas, keys, contractors and issue and then monitor all permits, and limitations to work.
  • Invoke centre’s call out system as and when required for defects with plants and equipment e.g. fire-alarm system, lifts, escalators, gates, doors, CCTV systems etc.
  • Invoke centre’s procedures as and when required during emergency or crises.
  • Monitor and instruct as required for carrying out fire evacuations and follow ups.
  • Comply with the data protection act and ensure that only authorised persons are permitted in Control Room, and all sensitive information remains controlled.
  • Ensure that security procedures are being followed at all times and keeping records and logs fully up to date.
  • Make all entries in DoB to required standard, including all occurrences, incidents, patrols, contractor/visitor visits, staff attendance, defects, alarm activations etc.
  • Record activations in Fire Log.
  • Answer telephones and provide customer service.
  • Control access to the yards and instruct other Security personnel to assist on the ground, if required. Maintain customer-service standards on intercom.
  • Answer lifts, fire disabled refugee points intercoms, and assist customers.
  • Use PA system in case of fire or to make other announcements.
  • Maintain and sign off Control Room documentation, e.g. Key Log, Over-C Log, Radio Log, Body-Camera Log, Visitors’ Log etc.

When licenced to do so:

  • Maintain appropriate and optimum usage of the CCTV system
  • Monitor and operate the CCTV system, check for fully functional recording system, and report any defects
  • Show and supply any legitimate and/or approved request for viewing and supply of CCTV footage, be aware of and follow procedures and controls in place on these matters. Comply with Data Protection Act 2018
  • Use CCTV system for Detection and Prevention of Public Disorder
  • Carry out regular CCTV patrols and record them in DoB
  • Maintain visual contact at all times (where cameras allow) of staff when on external patrols, particularly on Nightshifts
  • Use CCTV to adhere to requests by security to observe individuals /party’s actions
  • Maintain the perimeter security and integrity of the building constantly, particularly throughout non-operational hours, interrogating all visitors to satisfy their authority to be on site
  • Access to the control room will be restricted and with prior arrangement with Security Manager. All contractors and visitors are to remain outside the Control Room while being served. Contractor/visitors for works inside Control Room are to sign the “Control Room Visitors Book”
  • Access to CCTV system will only be given to CCTV-qualified Security Personnel
  • At no time should security take responsibility for keys of tenants’ premises unless authorised by the Client
  • Retail Radio should be monitored, call out to users as necessary and respond to calls from them
  • Record all calls received after hours or when the reception is unattended and forward messages on to the appropriate member of staff
  • Private mobile phones, reading books, newspapers or anything else not related to the job is NOT PERMITTED while NOT on break.
