Night Cleaner – The Medlock at Etihad Campus, Manchester
At Medlock, first impressions matter—but it’s the work done overnight that makes them possible. As a Night Cleaner, you'll be the calm, reassuring presence that keeps the hotel running while the city sleeps. From helping with welcoming late arrivals and supporting guests throughout the night to preparing the hotel for a brand-new day, you'll play an essential role in creating a seamless experience around the clock.
This role is about more than keeping things clean—it's about care, consistency and quiet attention to detail. You'll take pride in working independently through the night, ensuring our public spaces are immaculate, safe and ready to welcome guests by morning. From lobbies and lounges to corridors and guest facilities, you'll deep clean, refresh and maintain the areas that shape those all-important first impressions.
Alongside caring for our public spaces, you'll support the overnight operation by responding to guest requests, carrying out regular security and safety checks, assisting with luggage when needed, setting up meeting rooms and public areas for the day ahead, and helping to ensure the hotel remains secure, well-presented and running smoothly throughout the night.
Your behind-the-scenes contribution sets the tone for everything that follows. By combining exceptional standards with a genuine willingness to help, you'll ensure every guest enjoys a warm welcome, a peaceful stay and the confidence that someone is always there when they need them.
This brand-new 401-key hotel, opening at the heart of Manchester’s Etihad Campus, home to Manchester City Football Club, is set to be a game-changer in hospitality, seamlessly integrating with one of the most prestigious entertainment and sporting destinations globally.
The next evolution of the Etihad Campus will see it become a thriving sports and entertainment district, featuring state-of-the-art training facilities, a world class 60,000-seater stadium, and vibrant leisure spaces including the Co-Op Live arena. It will become a world-class hub for elite sport, music and entertainment, attracting visitors from around the world.
What you'll be doing:
- You’ll take ownership of your allocated areas, carrying out both routine and deep cleaning overnight with care, consistency and strong attention to detail.
- While the hotel rests, you’ll work calmly and efficiently to ensure all public spaces are clean, refreshed and ready for the day ahead—meeting, and often exceeding, our standards.
- Working independently through the night while supporting the wider team, you'll bring a dependable, positive approach, stepping in wherever needed to keep the hotel running smoothly.
- Whether welcoming late-arriving guests, responding to overnight requests, assisting with luggage, completing security checks, preparing meeting spaces or maintaining our public areas, you'll be someone guests and colleagues can rely on.
- You'll follow all safety, hygiene and security procedures, carrying out regular Fire Walks, handling equipment responsibly and helping to ensure the hotel remains safe, secure and well-presented throughout the night.
- No two nights are ever the same. You'll balance scheduled cleaning and porter duties with unexpected guest requests and operational priorities, staying organised, proactive and one step ahead.
- Your work is instrumental in preparing a hotel that feels welcoming, polished and ready to deliver an exceptional guest experience from the moment the doors open each morning.
- You’ll be a quiet ambassador for The Medlock, bringing our brand to life through the care you take, the details you perfect and the standards you uphold—often behind the scenes, but never without impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
