Night Cleaning Supervisor
Night Cleaning Team Leader – St James Quarter
Job Details
- Location: St James Quarter
- Hourly Rate: £15.95
- Job Type: Permanent Part-Time
- Start Date: 31.07.26
- Working Hours: 19:00 to 07:00
- Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off (including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis)
- Reports To: Operations Manager
- Supervises: Night cleaning team
Main Purpose of the Role
To lead and supervise the night cleaning team, ensuring all cleaning operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, while maintaining excellent customer service and compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Team Organization & Oversight
- Ensure all team members sign in correctly and manage attendance and punctuality.
- Confirm uniforms, name badges, and PPE are worn at all times.
- Allocate duties based on contract specifications, operational priorities, and individual skills.
- Monitor absences and report them promptly to the Operations Manager.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and ensure remedial actions are completed.
- Enforce company break policy, ensuring no breaks are taken in the final hour of the shift unless authorised.
- Supervise end-of-shift sign-out processes and perform bag checks in line with company policy.
- Promote and enforce Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Verify all employees have valid Right to Work documentation.

Equipment Management
- Carry out regular inspections of cleaning equipment and report defects promptly.
- Ensure safe, proper, and clean use of all equipment before and after use.
- Maintain cloths, mops, and reusable materials in good condition.
- Replace or wash dust mop heads as required and report any damaged or faulty equipment immediately.
Product & Compliance Standards
- Store cleaning products safely in original containers.
- Follow correct dilution rates for all products.
- Use the appropriate product for each cleaning task.
- Ensure full compliance with COSHH regulations.
- Enforce the use of required PPE, including gloves, where necessary.
Administration & Compliance
- Complete and submit timesheets accurately and on time.
- Ensure new starter documentation is accurately completed and submitted to Head Office.
- Verify all employment documentation is up to date before staff begin work.
- Monitor and recover any hours owed in accordance with company procedures.
- Order cleaning materials within agreed budgets.
- Comply with all company procedures, work instructions, and operational documentation.
Human Resources & Training
- Follow company disciplinary procedures for staff misconduct.
- Follow company grievance procedures for any employee concerns.
- Provide induction training to all new staff.
- Ensure ongoing training, supervision, and instruction on all tasks and machinery.
- Complete and maintain checklists and training records.

Customer Care & Representation
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with the client and their representatives.
- Adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality regarding Grosvenor, the client, and their personnel.
- Report any incidents, concerns, complaints, or service issues to the Operations Manager immediately.
Miscellaneous Duties
- Periodically work at additional Grosvenor sites as required.
- Follow reasonable and practical instructions from your Line Manager.
- Adhere to the established management reporting structure.
What We Are Looking For
- Preferred: Previous cleaning supervisory experience.
- Essential:
- Experience leading teams.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
- Flexibility and reliability.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH.
