Night Concierge & Security Assistant

Night Concierge and Security Assistant

Contract & Compensation

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Salary: £26,227.50 per annum
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: 8 nights on, followed by 6 days off
  • Location: The Crossings, Hull

Job Overview

You will act as the initial point of reference for residents, implementing night security systems, monitoring CCTV, and ensuring the overall safety of the premises. This role involves responding to incidents, providing a concierge service, maintaining health and safety standards, and supporting vulnerable individuals.


About the Role

You will: ✅ Operate night security systems, fire alarms, and telephone systems to ensure safety. ✅ Respond to system alerts, faults, and incidents, reporting as required. ✅ Monitor visitors’ access, policing behaviour, and ensuring compliance with protocols. ✅ Complete health & safety checks and assist with preventative maintenance. ✅ Advise on tenant-related queries, distribute mail, and manage security logs. ✅ Travel to different properties as needed and work s Safely via the Lone Worker system. ✅ Model Riverside Way principles, promoting diversity and safeguarding best practices.

Essential Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain 24/7 security via systems and physical patrols.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health & safety policies and safeguarding protocols.
  • Respond to emergencies, incidents, or anti-social behaviour.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and report issues promptly.

Customer Support

  • Provide concierge services for tenant queries and emergencies.
  • Manage access control and monitor CCTV for security/safety.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, visitors, and management.
  • Distribute mail, process payments, and operate property management systems.

Maintenance & Office Work

  • Inspect properties to identify repairs/maintenance needs.
  • Perform cleaning duties (rooms, communal areas).
  • Complete log documentation, incident reports, and security records.

Operational Requirements

  • Follow a night shift rota, including occasional travel to multiple locations.
  • Apply lone worker best practices as required.
  • Participate in team training, supervisions, and development sessions.
  • Stay informed via Riverside’s SharePoint, emails, and internal policies.

About You

Essential Criteria

🔹 Experience in a customer-focused role (e.g., reception, security, housing aid). 🔹 Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Word/Excel) + willingness to learn system-specific tools. 🔹 Commitment to equal opportunities & non-discrimination. 🔹 Ability to work flexible shifts (including night work) and occasionally lone. 🔹 Strong time management and organisation skills. 🔹 Initiative-taking and confident decision-making under pressure. 🔹 Willingness to undertake mandatory training.

Desirable (Not Essential but Helpful)

🔹 Previous experience with vulnerable/diverse customer groups. 🔹 Personal lived experience (homelessness, mental health challenges, substance misuse). 🔹 Prior exposure to CCTV operations or security monitoring.
