Night Healthcare Assistant (Enhanced)

Location Rivermead View, Looe, Cornwall


Role: Full-time (37.5-hour contract)

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Night Healthcare Assistant (Enhanced) to join our dedicated team and deliver high-quality, person-centred care throughout the night.

This role offers the opportunity to make a difference by providing compassionate support at night and taking on additional responsibilities, including:

  • Leading by example with safe care, mentoring other Healthcare Assistants (HCAs)
  • Supporting the Night Coordinator with medication administration
  • Guiding new team members and championing best practices

Your dedication will help ensure our residents feel safe, reassured, and receive dignity in care.


Responsibilities

Core Care Duties

  • Deliver compassionate personal care, including:
    • Support with continence
    • Repositioning to prevent discomfort or pressure sores
  • Conduct regular welfare checks, night observations, and record-keeping
  • Respond promptly to resident call bells with empathy and urgency
  • Provide comfort, emotional reassurance, and companionship during night shifts
  • Administer medication safely (after training and competency sign-off)
  • Monitor health/wellbeing and report concerns promptly

Requirements

  • Minimum Care Certificate qualification (HCA experience essential)
  • Kind, calm, and empathetic approach — residents’ well-being is your priority
  • Experience in care, particularly with:
    • Dementia care
    • Complex care needs
  • Confidence to take responsibility, mentor colleagues, and uphold safety standards
  • Medication administration training highly valued, otherwise must commit to completing it
  • Basic IT skills for accurate digital record-keeping
  • Positive attitude and strong team ethos
