Night Butler Manager (Housekeeping/Room Service/Laundry)

Position Summary

Overall responsibility for delivering high-quality cleaning, ensuring smooth operation of housekeeping, room service, and laundry services during night shifts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Staff & Operational Oversight

    • Provide Chief Housekeeper with high-quality butler services, supporting Housekeeping operation management.
    • Conduct daily inspections across all vessel areas (public spaces, suites, toilets, launderettes, and laundry) to ensure high cleaning standards.
    • Supervise housekeeping team scheduling on a cruise-by-cruise basis, ensuring fair, equitable shifts with at least 1 day’s advance notice.
    • Monitor duty sign-in sheets via the Time and Attendance application.
  • Guest & Accountability Standards

    • Ensure timely, knowledgeable handling of all guest orders and requests.
    • Update and monitor Guest Recovery Logs, identifying areas for improvement.
    • Review all mid-cruise and end-of-cruise comment cards, ensuring corrective actions are taken to maintain guest satisfaction (measured by guest rating scores).
    • Supervise mid-cruise and end-of-cruise report preparation.
  • In-Suite & Breakfast Responsibilities

    • Oversee F&B services in suites, including tray setup for smooth breakfast service.
    • Ensure all in-suite services, amenities, and systems are fully understood and executed by staff.

  • Inventory & Cost Management

    • Maintain accurate inventory records of durables and consumables in housekeeping areas.
    • Order replenishments through MMS, minimizing breakage/loss and enforcing cost control.
    • Review and approve night team overtime and working hours, ensuring compliance with ILO and MLC work/rest regulations.
  • Onboarding, Training & Development

    • Induct, train, and mentor new Night Butlers, Utilities, and Laundry team members, focusing on service standards, guest interactions, and procedural adherence.
    • Lead recognition programs for high performers and provide effective delegation.
    • Train crew on Public Health policies (keeping records as standard).
  • Housekeeping Operations

    • Maintain daily handover reports for Chief Housekeeper & Butler Manager on suite movements, incidents and follow-ups.
    • Update Silver Compass system for trackable Aberrations Logs.
    • Execute random checks in operational areas to uphold company cleaning standards.
  • Administrative & Compliance

    • Ensure anonymously logged sensitivity requests are handled with confidentiality, maintaining employee records such as training attendance, verbal errs, and schedule hours.
    • Enforce proper conduct with all departments aboard, following Company policies.
    • Comply fully with Company Talent Management policies.

  • Equipment & Maintenance
    • Conduct regular inspections of all equipment and facilities, updating maintenance logs and ensuring follow-up on pending repairs.
    • Adhere to Public Health standards; prepare for unannounced inspections by maintaining documented records.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Previous management/supervisory experience in Housekeeping, 5-star hotels, or cruise ships.
    • Proven expertise in cleaning standards, Public Health policies.
    • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, applications, and safe usage.
  • Skills:

    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Fidelio, and hotel operating systems.
    • Ability to read, understand, and apply tech specs from maintenance logs and reports.
    • Skilled in цінnected cost control for meals, bedding, and guest requests.

Language Requirements

  • Essential: Strong written and spoken English.
  • Preferred: Fluency in additional languages, particularly Spanish.
