About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll help shape the Waitrose experience by delivering Partner-led service and passionate, food-focused care that competitors simply can’t match. Your commitment to going the extra mile will create the perfect impression, building lasting trust and loyalty for customers on every visit.
Beyond your £13.00/hour pay (rising to £13.25/hour after 90 days), eligible shifts between 22:00 and 06:00 earn a Night Premium of £3.75/hour. This also applies to existing Partners under the Enhanced Hours Premium scheme.
Responsibilities
(Note: Applicants must be 18+ due to working time regulations.)
Your role combines customer service excellence with operational tasks to ensure smooth operations. This includes:
- Stock replenishment: Maintaining fully stocked shelves in the right places, prioritising availability and presentation for customers.
- Grocery delivery fulfilment: Packing online orders ready for drivers to deliver straight to customers’ front doors.
- Waste reduction: Following product guidelines to markdown shelves efficiently and adhere to sell-by date policies.
- Cross-team support: Assisting checkout teams, managing Click & Collect orders, fulfilling on-demand customer orders, and supporting other store functions as needed.
- Shopkeeping: Keeping the workspace safe, clean, and organised to comply with retail standards.

Essential Qualities
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within a team and with customers.
