Supermarket Assistant – Glasgow Byres Road (Waitrose & Partners)
About the Role
As a Supermarket Assistant, you’ll help Waitrose carve out a unique customer experience, delivering our Partner-led service and unwavering passion for food and quality—something competitors can’t replicate. With the drive to go the extra mile, your commitment will shape customers’ perceptions of the Waitrose brand, earning their trust and loyalty for life.
Key highlight:
- Night Premium of £3.75 per hour applies for shifts between 22:00–06:00, including for existing Partners on Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
- Contractual pay: £13.00 per hour (£13.25 after 90 days).
Applicant eligibility: All applicants must be 18 years or older due to working time regulations. Technical checks (e.g., DBS for some roles) may apply—details shared during recruitment.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting a seamless customer experience and maintaining flawless operational efficiency. Your role includes:
- Stock replenishment: Ensuring shelves are fully stocked and products are accurately placed for effortless customer access.
- Online order fulfilment: Processing and preparing click-and-collect and direct-to-home orders for timely delivery.
- Waste reduction: Implementing product due diligence and markdown policies for perishables to minimise waste.
- Team collaboration: Assisting with:
- Checkout support
- Managing Click & Collect orders
- On-demand customer order processing
- Shop safety & tidiness: Maintaining a neat, well-organised shopping environment.

📍 Location: Glasgow, Waitrose & Partners, 373 Byres Road, G12 8AU 🕒 Hours: Part-time – 27 hours/week 🕰 Shifts: 3x shifts per week, typically 22:00–08:00 💼 Contract type: Temporary 💰 Remuneration: £13.00 (rising to £13.25 post 90 days) 👥 Job title: Partnership Level 10
