Role Description
The Night Shift Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based at Gardner Aerospace’s facility in Basildon. Working alongside one other Inspector, this role is responsible for inspecting aerospace components during night operations to ensure they meet technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- Performing dimensional and visual checks
- Using measurement tools and inspection equipment
- Recording inspection results
- Reporting non-conformities
The Night Shift Inspector collaborates with production and quality teams to resolve issues, supports continuous improvement of inspection processes, and follows all safety and regulatory guidelines for manufacturing and handling aerospace parts.

Qualifications

- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing or engineering environments and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with quality inspection processes, including dimensional checks, visual inspection, and use of measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and ability to follow established procedures and work instructions.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with production, engineering, and quality teams.
- Ability to work consistently on night shifts, maintain focus, and meet productivity and quality targets.
- Familiarity with aerospace or highly regulated industries is an advantage.
- Basic IT skills for using inspection software, recording data, and generating reports.
- Relevant vocational training or qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, or quality assurance are beneficial.
