Role: Electrical-Bias Multi-Skilled Engineer on the Night Shift

Responsibilities

As an Electrical-Bias Multi-Skilled Engineer on the Night Shift, your role will be to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to breakdowns across the manufacturing facility. Working closely with other departments on a variety of projects and process improvements.

  • Leading electrical fault finding on machinery, control panels, sensors, and drives
  • Supporting mechanical maintenance including conveyors, bearings, belts, and gearboxes
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to increase reliability and efficiency
  • Conducting site assessments and recommending remedial actions
  • Minimising downtime and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
  • Assisting with installation and commissioning of equipment when required
  • Supporting general site/building maintenance when required, with shop floor machinery as the main priority

Requirements

Ideally you will have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role within a fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environment. You will need to be strongly electrically biased (60% electrical / 40% mechanical) and ideally have experience working with packaging or automated machinery.

In terms of qualifications, you will need to be NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline, apprentice trained or possess equivalent vocational experience. 18th Edition qualification is preferred, but not essential.

As an engineer, you will possess strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, have a proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Role details

This Night Shift role will be a lead role on late shift production, working closely with the night team to ensure the production machinery is kept running smoothly and any project work is completed. Working hours are:

  • Sunday to Wednesday 10pm – 6am
  • Thursday 10pm – 5am

Overtime is paid at 1.5x

Salary and package

Salary and package are dependent on experience, but will start at around £47000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include 24 days plus bank holidays, Sick pay Scheme, Life Insurance and Personal Pension Scheme and relevant training. xlqdzyr My client also operates a Profit Related Bonus scheme eligible to all full time employees.
