About the Role
Enabling Huge Small Victories
Working in our Children’s Homes means being part of a young person’s day-to-day life. Whether they experience the highest highs or lowest lows, our Night Support Workers (NSOs) are there to help them reclaim their childhood and build a path toward a well-rounded adulthood. Every challenge brings huge small victories, those tiny yet meaningful moments that transform lives.
We care for young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs and strive to create the best possible outcomes. NSOs are motivated by the ability to make even the smallest positive changes—whether it’s helping someone stay calm, providing comfort or simply understanding them in their darkest moments.
Our commitment is simple: get out what you put in. With bitter challenges come huge small wins—it’s those small, poignant changes that make all the difference.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Young People Around the Clock
- Be the comforting presence young people depend on, especially in severe distress due to trauma, illness, or restlessness—being there with understanding and support in those vulnerable moments makes all the difference.
- Build rapport and trust by connecting with each young person’s needs, personality, and potential, then guiding them toward a successful future.
- Ensure home maintenance tasks during quieter periods (paperwork, cleaning, laundry), ensuring a functional and safe environment.
Routine & Commitment
- Operate under a waking night schedule (4 on / 4 off)—because young people’s needs don’t sleep.
What We Offer You
At Witherslack Group, we honour your dedication with the best salary, benefits, and opportunities in the care sector. Working with us means making a real impact on young lives and getting rewarded in return:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
