Night Support Worker - Children's Homes

Night Support Worker – Children’s Homes (Residential Care Support)

£30,849 - £33,896 (assuming good attendance) | Waking nights (4 on / 4 off)

About the Role: Those Huge Small Victories

Working as a Night Support Worker (NSO) in our Children’s Homes means immersing yourself in the daily lives of young people—celebrating their highs and supporting them through the lows. Your role is critical in helping them regain a sense of normalcy and paving the way for them to grow into well-rounded adults.

We focus on children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, striving to create meaningful, positive change—every small moment counts.

"There will be challenges, but nothing comes close to the satisfaction of the smallest victories."

What’s Expected of You: Get Out What You Put In

You’ll be the calming presence during stormy nights: comforting a young person struggling with trauma, managing anxiety, or offering reassurance when sleep seems impossible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Support:

    • Provide emotionally-responsible interventions during crises (illness, distress, insomnia, or trauma).
    • Develop trusting relationships—becoming someone the young person can turn to in vulnerable moments.
    • Offer holistic care when needs escalate at night or when extra guidance is required.
  • Home & Administrations:

    • Handle daily operational tasks (paperwork, cleaning, laundry, and maintenance).
  • Personal Commitment:

    • Bring energetic, adaptable problem-solving—fresh challenges daily.
    • Embrace a "team player" mentality; collaboration is key.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
