Nights Transport Supervisor
About the Role Uniserve is seeking a Nights Transport Supervisor to oversee and manage all night transport operations at the Warrington site, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of customer requirements while maintaining high operational standards and cost control.
Shift Pattern 4 on / 4 off, with 12-hour night shifts
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Manage and coordinate all night transport activities, including:
- Vehicle routing
- Driver allocation
- Workload planning
- Ensure all deliveries and collections comply with customer requirements and SLAs
- Monitor live operations and mitigate issues, delays, or service risks proactively
Driver Management
- Serve as the first point of contact for drivers on shift
- Provide clear briefings and debriefs to align expectations
- Monitor driver performance, conduct, and compliance during shifts
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full adherence to:
- Driver hours regulations and tachograph rules
- Company safety procedures
- Foster a safety-first culture
- Maintain defect reporting and vehicle compliance standards

System & Planning
- Allocate work and track job progress
- Ensure accurate data capture for operational efficiency
- Maintain precise records, including shift documents, incident logs, and reports
Customer Service
- Communicate with customers as needed
- Guarantee delivery meets agreed service expectations
- Escalate risks quickly and professionally
Continuous Improvement
- Identify operational inefficiencies and propose solutions
- Support cost reduction initiatives (e.g., improved fleet utilisation, reduced empty runs)
- Contribute insights during operational performance reviews
Skills & Experience
- Essential:
- Previous experience in transport/logistics
- Strong knowledge of fleet operations
- Proven ability to operate Microsoft Office
- Preferred:
- Experience in a supervisory or planning role
- Critical Skills:
- In-depth understanding of transport legislation (e.g., tachographs, driver hours)
- Strong IT/computer skills (beneficial: experience with transport management systems)
- Communication and decision-making under pressure
- Calm under pressure (essential for night operations)
- Self-motivated and accountable
- Professional, clear communication
