NIHL Claims Handler
Claims Handler (Casualty Team) – Stoke
Location: Davies, Stoke

National Security Requirement
Due to MOD and commercial national security obligations, eligibility for this role is restricted to British Citizen or dual nationals (where one nationality is British), with no UK residency restrictions.
What the Role Involves
The Claims Handler is responsible for end-to-end claims management—from initial liaison through investigation, evidence gathering, resolution, and reporting. Key responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
- Liaison:
- Collaborate with Disclosure teams across various Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and MOD services.
- Investigation & Evidence Collection:
- Progress allocated claims from cradle to grave.
- Gather all relevant evidence and documentation.
- Assess claims using Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and via the GOV.UK Claims Portal.
- Liability & Quantum Assessment:
- Evaluate legal liability, injury quantum, and strategic negotiation tactics.
- Negotiation & Settlement:
- Negotiate claims to closure within specified authority limits.
- Reporting & Strategy:
- Produce detailed legal & financial case reports.
- Align findings with dispute resolution strategies and maintain accurate reserve holdings.
- Commercial & Stakeholder Relations:
- Maintain proactive communication (verbal/written) with clients, reporting teams, and external parties.
- Compliance & Development:
- Adhere to client SOP, legal principles, and company policies.
- Uphold MOD and private sector claims procedures—NAMMan, CSI, MedPLUS etc.

Essential
✔ Proven claims handling experience ✔ Strong organisational skills—effective case load management ✔ Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to excellence in service ✔ Teamwork & self-motivation with the ability to adapt in diverse scenarios ✔ Clear, professional, and multistakeholder communication skills ✔ Value-focused approach to resolving marketing but legally meritorious claims, aligning with Agreed Protection Scheme thresholds
Desirable
✔ Hands-on experience with liability claims in occupational accident contexts ✔ Knowledge of NIHL (NO2/Noise-induced hearing loss) claims ✔ Evidence of Case Management training ✔ Ability to value claimants’ injuries effectively (potential transferability from retail, health, corporate risk claims area) ✔ Understanding of claim reserve management and industry best practices
