The role

LSBU Global at London South Bank University is committed to its vision of academic excellence with a positive impact in the real world. We are seeking to appoint one Mechanical Engineering, and another one Electrical and Electronics Engineering Lecturer with a developing track record in both teaching and course design, to deliver and undertake Engineering teaching-related duties for LSBU Global. The post holder’s main duty will be to deliver Automation Technology and Application, New Energy Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology courses across levels 4-6 at the NJUIT-LSBU Joint Institute in China. We are expecting that the candidate will help to enhance and further the quality of the student experience at the Joint Institute and contribute to the development of a high-quality teaching and learning provision.

The teaching will be across two semesters over a period of 10-12 weeks per semester in China, with additional in-country requirements for course administration. Working across the B.Eng. courses predominantly, the postholder will provide outstanding teaching, and supervision, to our students. Additionally, the post-holder will support the course management in China and be the interface with LSBU Global colleagues.

The expected start date is in September 2026.

About You

A good honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering or similar subject, and a postgraduate qualification (or) relevant professional experience (or) PhD in an appropriate (or) closely related discipline. An open viewpoint and willingness to teach across all subjects to an undergraduate degree level is essential, with a passion for teaching, highly motivated and bring a thorough understanding of the UK Higher Education landscape and policies and processes. Experience within other Higher Education Institutions is desirable.

  • Proven ability to teach at all academic levels and supervise students.
  • Strong pedagogical skills with a focus on communication, engaging teaching methods, and blended learning.
  • Leadership skills to contribute to academic management and planning, including motivating staff and managing projects.
  • Team player who contributes to improving student satisfaction, retention, and employability.
  • Ability to make significant contributions to LSBU Global through partnership activities.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills for teaching and administrative tasks
  • Ability to be based at the Joint Institute in China.
