Job Title: NLP Engineer

Company: Sensefolio

Location: Remote or London, UK

Sensefolio, a leading provider of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data and analytics, is seeking an experienced and passionate NLP Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and data analysis to develop and refine advanced algorithms that extract valuable insights from textual data related to ESG factors. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement NLP models and algorithms to analyze and process large-scale textual data from various sources, such as company reports, social media posts, and financial news
  • Collaborate with data scientists, developers, and other team members to enhance ESG rating methodologies, improve data processing pipelines, and optimize platform performance
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NLP, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to ensure the continued innovation of Sensefolio’s ESG data and analytics solutions
  • Conduct research on emerging ESG trends and issues, and incorporate findings into model development and enhancement
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including model specifications, performance metrics, and validation results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, linguistics, or a related field; advanced degree (MS, PhD) is a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in NLP, machine learning, or artificial intelligence, preferably within the financial services, ESG, or data analytics industries
  • Proficiency in Python and NLP libraries, such as NLTK, spaCy, or Gensim
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
  • Experience working with large-scale data processing, distributed computing, or cloud-based platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, AWS) is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with ESG investing principles and market trends is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
