We’re scaling up with an exciting opportunity for a No.1 Mechanic to join an elite racing environment.


About the Role

The Head Technician – No.1 Mechanic will oversee test car assembly, HSE compliance, parts tracking, and workshop operations for Jaguar TCS Racing. This hands-on leadership role demands technical expertise, attention to detail, and a passion for electric motorsport innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build & Assembly Management

    • Lead all test car and rig build activities, ensuring strict adherence to Technical Drawings, Bulletins, and Build Specifications.
    • Align all builds with agreed schedules to keep projects on track.
    • Liaise with design and engineering teams to work on fault resolution and technical improvements.
  • Safety & Compliance

    • Oversee factory and trackside HSE policies, including safety checks, hazard signage, and PPE compliance.
    • Ensure teams operate within legal frameworks for high-voltage (HV) vehicles and extreme motorsport environments.
  • Pit & Equipment Responsibilities

    • Manage the test team’s pit equipment, ensuring it remains race-ready and transferable between test/track/release teams.
    • Verify all tools and components meet specifications and are available for track use.
  • Departmental Excellence

    • Foster workshop best practices, mentor junior/senior technicians, and champion a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Identify process and performance enhancements to support the team’s competitive edge.

  • Technical logging & Reporting

    • Collaborate with the Parts Co-ordinator to track hardrace usage and input data into the system promptly.
    • Escalate critical faults to engineering teams for resolution.
  • Operational Support

    • Assist in packing air freight and logistics for moves between facilities.
    • Promote a high-standard working environment, including cleanliness, presentation, and professionalism.
    • Maintain strengthened relationships across factory departments and stakeholders.
  • Autonomous & Adaptable Performance

    • Operate independently when necessary, adopting a proactive mindset.
    • Meet deadlines, interest-driven projects, late nights, or festival events as required.
    • Abide by all company Health & Safety policies.

About You

This role is for an experienced professional with a strong track record in electric motorsport.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previously operated as a #1 Mechanic at a World Championship race/rally team.
  • Proven ability to manage escalating workloads efficiently.
  • Familiarity with HV vehicle operating protocols is an advantage.
  • Strong background in rigorous safety management (electrics, motorsport, and workshop environments).
  • Confidence with Microsoft Office (data processing in Excel, note-taking in OneNote, documentation in Word).
  • Valid UK Full Driving Licence (essential for travelling with the team).
