An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Non-Conformance Authority (NCA) to join the Defence Mature Engines team in Bristol. The role focuses on evaluating and authorising exceptions like concessions, deviation permits (DPs), and Technical Acceptance Documents (TADs) for Defence Aero & Naval products. You’ll determine if non-conforming items can safely meet Rolls-Royce’s customer quality standards.


What you will be doing

  • Lead Non-Conformance Authority for Defence Aero & Naval products, assessing potential impacts on fit, form, function, product safety, and visual performance across all applications and customer specifications
  • Apply lean methodologies to drive continuous improvement in processes
  • Continuously monitor and refine corrective action effectiveness, identifying opportunities for enhancement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and prevent non-conformance recurrence
  • Provide technical expert guidance to internal stakeholders across non-conformance issues
  • Maintain and develop documentation, including reports, records, and improvement strategies

Position qualifications

We’re seeking candidates with:

  • Educational requirement: Degree in a STEM discipline (or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering environment)
  • Technical expertise:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and systems-level thinking
    • Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for assessing impacts
    • Familiarity with gas turbine manufacturing processes, aerospace materials, and related standards (preferred)
  • Core competences:
    • Effective communication and stakeholder management at all levels (including conflict resolution and priority handling)
    • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical rigor
  • Attitude & mindset:
    • Supported by etnick and personal drive, and capable of thriving in a team environment
    • Premier capability to set expectations and manage diverse priorities
