Join a team of experts and progressive thinkers
You will be a member of a nationally recognised construction team led by Andrew Tobin and Perveen Akhter, both of whom specialise in non-contentious transactional construction projects. Our market-leading construction team consists of 6 partners and 20 other lawyers. We work for our clients across the UK from our four offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and London. The team's reputation in education, housing and Government sectors is second to none and is complemented by a strong practice advising clients operating in highways, leisure, health and social care, acting for employers and contractors in those markets.
Our construction lawyers advise on a wide range of types of contract from JCT, NEC and other industry standards, to advising on bespoke arrangement and wider development and finance related documentation specific to the markets in which we work. We are involved in a number of the major Government construction programmes for delivery of new hospitals, social housing, schools and highways.
Bevan Brittan's Construction team has strong recognition in the independent legal directories - Chambers & Partners and Legal 500. In both guides we are consistently ranked strongly, with multiple individuals recognised as leading lawyers.
The Role
As our team continues to grow, a vacancy has arisen for an Associate/Senior Associate to be part of the team, focusing on non-contentious, transactional construction projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
