About the opportunity Innovate Awarding is seeking two Non-Executive Directors to join its Board at a pivotal time of growth and sector change.
As an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation, Innovate supports thousands of learners and training providers across the UK. The organisation is now strengthening its Board to enhance regulatory oversight and bring greater commercial and product insight as it enters its next phase of development.
The roles We are seeking two individuals to bring complementary expertise at Board level:
Non-Executive Director – Compliance You will bring strong regulatory experience (ideally Ofqual or a comparable high-stakes regulator), providing Board-level oversight, assurance and challenge. You will also chair the Regulatory Compliance Committee.
Non-Executive Director – Product & Commercial Strategy You will bring commercial and product expertise, helping to shape strategy, challenge decision-making, and support future growth. You will also chair the Product & Commercial Strategy Committee.

Responsibilities will include: Providing independent oversight and governance at Board level Offering constructive challenge as a “critical friend” to the executive team Supporting strategic decision-making and organisational performance Ensuring strong alignment with regulatory and market expectations Contributing to a collaborative, open and engaged Board culture
About you We are looking for senior leaders who can operate effectively at Board level and bring strong strategic insight.
For the Compliance role, you will have: Experience within a regulated environment (ideally Ofqual or similar) A strong understanding of compliance, risk and governance Board or committee-level experience

For the Product & Commercial role, you will have: Strong commercial and/or product strategy experience Insight into education, training, or adjacent markets A track record of strategic growth, innovation or market development
For both roles, you will demonstrate: The ability to operate at a strategic (not operational) level Strong judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively A collaborative, supportive and open approach A commitment to high standards of governance and integrity
Additional information Time commitment: approximately 10–15 days per year Board meetings: a mix of in-person (Bristol) and virtual sessions Term: initial 2-year appointment Remuneration: £4,000 per annum
