Role: Non-Infra Team Manager – Water Treatment Department
We’re looking for an experienced Non-Infra Team Manager to lead a team of around 20 skilled operational technicians (including 2 senior technicians) at our Mythe and Mitcheldean Surface Water Treatment Works—key assets for our strategic water supply.
As the Non-Infra Team Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in operating, maintaining, and optimising these water treatment plants in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Directing the day-to-day operations of Mythe and Mitcheldean Water Treatment Works, ensuring 24/7 safety, efficiency, and compliance.
- Overseeing treatment assets, maintaining regulatory adherence (with support whilst building into the role).
- Leading a team of 20+ personnel, fostering high performance, engagement, and accountability.
- Promoting investment and innovation in areas such as safety, resilience, efficiency, and process improvement.
- Implementing root cause investigations, continuous improvement methods, and Comm Cells to drive operational excellence.
- Managing assigned budgets to deliver cost savings while aligning with business objectives.
- Collaborating with external regulators (DWI, Environment Agency) and supply chain partners to maintain strong working relationships.
- Ensuring effective emergency planning and incident response arrangements.

Work Location & Commitments:
- Based at Mythe and Mitcheldean with cross-regional travel required (primarily South region).
- Out-of-hours standby rota for Worcestershire and Gloucestershire areas—essential for maintaining service reliability.
- Unrestricted access to support as you transition into this leadership role.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record of managing teams in a customer-focused operational environment (water or related fields being advantageous).
- Regulatory awareness: Familiarity with water treatment operations, maintenance practices, and environmental compliance.
- Stakeholder engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build internal and external relationships.
- Operational resilience mindset: Ability to identify process improvements, analyse performance, and implement decisive action in fast-paced settings.
- Budget management: Experience managing operational or project budgets—and driving cost-saving efficiencies.
- Licence requirement: Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Traits:
- A network of trusted suppliers (easily channelled if they meet yours).
- Experience in process automation or advanced plant systems.
- Demonstrable history of leading performance improvement initiatives within a challenging environment.
