Advanced Practise Nurse (Neurodevelopmental Conditions) – Independent Prescribing

About the Role

The successful applicant will work with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD, delivering a blend of evidence-based nursing, psychological interventions, and independent prescribing support. This role operates within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensuring safe, holistic care aligned with national guidelines and shared care protocols.

Critical aspects of the role include:

  • Independent prescribing and medication management for ADHD and related conditions
  • Assessment, diagnostic formulation, and intervention planning with autonomous clinical expertise
  • Delivering specialist programmes, leading audits, and developing service pathways
  • Supporting safeguarding, providing training, and chairing relevant meetings
  • Champions for collaborative teamworking, recovery-focused clinical reasoning, and peer supervision

The role caters for autonomy but integrates closely into the MDT, requiring clinical leadership skills alongside compassionate care delivery. Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential; applicants fluent in either Welsh or English are welcome.

Core Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Assessment

  • Conduct independent and collaborative clinical assessments for children and young people across neurodevelopmental presentations, specialising in ADHD
  • Conduct physical health screening and baseline monitoring (e.g., blood pressure, height/weight, cardiac history)
  • Develop and implement individualised care pathways and treatment plans
  • Monitor medication efficacy and safety, adjusting prescriptions and evaluating treatment responses
  • Record validated outcome measures to track progress and treatment impact

Prescribing & Therapy Delivery

  • Independently prescribe, manage, and review ADHD medications as per NHS standards
  • Operate in line with lone- or remotely-supervised practice when necessary in community settings
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate intervention programmes—including individual, group, and family-focused therapies
  • Act as a clinical resource for GP practices and referring organisations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
