Security Officer – Birmingham
About the Role We are seeking a professional and dependable Security Officer to join our team in Birmingham. In this role, you will ensure the safety and security of our clients, visitors, and staff while maintaining a welcoming and professional front-of-house experience.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring and patrolling premises, managing access control, responding to incidents, and maintaining a visible, reassuring presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deter unauthorised activity or entry
- Offer advice and assistance to staff, visitors, and contractors
- Protect premises, property, and personnel from theft, damage, and violence
- Patrol the building to prevent fire, flood, theft, and sabotage
- Control entry and exit of staff, visitors, and contractors as instructed
- Provide first aid response as needed
- Issue, log, and securely manage keys and ensure their safe return
- Operate, monitor, and respond to security and safety systems, including:
- Access control
- Intruder alarms
- Fire alarms
- Maintain logs of occurrences, produce incident reports, and escalate incidents promptly
- Direct and guide visitors effectively
- Monitor security equipment performance and perform weekly checks on:
- Fire exits
- Intruder alarm systems
- Cover the reception desk when required
- Adhere to site security policies, emergency procedures, and Health & Safety regulations, including responding to:
- Emergencies (fire, bomb threats)
- Assisting emergency services if necessary

Requirements
Must Have:
- Valid SIA licence (CCTV experience is desirable)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience in a similar security role (preferred)
- Checkoutable 5-year work history
Shift Pattern & Location
- Doors: 4 days on, 4 days off | 4 nights on, 4 nights off (total 42 hours/week)
- Location: Birmingham, B1 2JB
- Pay rate: £14.00 per hour
