We are seeking an ambitious Audit Manager passionate about the not for profit sector to join our Midlands-based, award-winning team, recognised as the leading firm of auditors to the charity sector.
About the Role
You will lead a portfolio of charities and non-profit organisations—ranging from startups to prestigious, top 100 household-name clients (including INGOs, grant makers, schools, academies, membership organisations, professional bodies, and housing associations). This role offers:

Responsibilities
Assistant Managers are critical to coordinating teams, managing projects, and delivering on time and within budget. Core tasks include:
- Client portfolio management, delivering a year-round service by fostering strong internal and external relationships.
- Overseeing multiple audit engagements, ensuring compliance with financial constraints and deadlines from planning through completion.
- Acting as the principal client contact, offering proactive service and responsiveness.
- Time planning work and appointments while adhering to tight deadlines and managing multiple tasks.
- Preparing and presenting reports to senior management, audit committees, and boards.
- Leading teams through direction, coaching, and mentoring junior colleagues to ensure effective engagement delivery.
- Proactively engaging in business development, including networking and bid preparation for new work.
- Exploring opportunities in wider assurance services for clients.
- Participating in team and firm training initiatives.
Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant: ACA, ICAS, or ACCA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- In-depth auditing and accounting standards knowledge, with practical experience in:
- Charity audits and the not for profit sector. (Knowledge of the Charities SORP is advantageous—though not mandatory.)
- Strong people management skills to support, coach, and mentor junior colleagues.
- Passion for the not for profit sector.
