About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious Audit Manager with a passion for the not-for-profit sector to join our award-winning team based in our Midlands office. You will be joining the leading firm of auditors to the charity sector, committed to delivering high-quality service to a high-profile portfolio of clients.
The role involves working with a variety of organisations, including:
- Start-ups to well-established charities
- INGOs, grant-makers, schools, academies, membership organisations
- Professional bodies and housing associations
- Many of whom are top 100 charities or well-known household names

Responsibilities
Assistant Managers are responsible for coordinating their teams and managing projects, assignments, and client portfolios with efficiency:

Coordination: Managing a portfolio of external audit clients, delivering a year-round service that includes:
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Managing a number of audit teams, ensuring work is completed on time, on budget, and to agreed deadlines

Client Representation: Acting as the principal contact for clients throughout the year, delivering a proactive service.

Time and Deadline Management: Working under tight deadlines, multitasking in an organised manner.
- Time planning for personal workload and client appointments.
- Presenting reports to senior management, audit committees, or boards.

Team Leadership: Directing, coaching, and mentoring audit teams to facilitate delivery of engagements.

Business Development: Promoting business growth, including involvement in proposals and new work presentations.

Assurance Services: Potential scope for providing wider assurance services to clients.

Training and Engagement: Participation in team-wide activities and training opportunities.

Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge

Qualification: Hold one of the following:
- Qualified ACA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
- ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland)
- ACCA (Association of Chartered Accountants)

Software Proficiency:
- Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.

Technical Expertise:
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
- Familiarity with charity audits and the not-for-profit sector (including the Charities SORP) is advantageous, although not essential.

Leadership Skills:
- Effective people management abilities to coach and mentor more junior colleagues.

Industry Interest: Passion for or interest in the not-for-profit sector.
