The role
As our NPD Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our product development team, supporting every stage of the journey from early ideas to product launch. You'll help keep our Innovation Academy running smoothly, prepare samples and tastings, manage ingredients and stock, and support the testing and benchmarking that shapes every new Huel product. If you're passionate about food, nutrition and innovation, this is the perfect opportunity to kick-start a career in New Product Development while learning from a team that's constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
Here’s an insight into what you’ll get up to:
- Supporting Product Developers across multiple product categories on projects from concept to launch.
- Leading the organisation of our Innovation Academy (on-site kitchen), managing stock rotation, ingredient shelf life & readiness for kitchen trials.
- Owning the benchmarking regime, regularly reviewing competitor products to keep us ahead of the curve.
- Liaising with suppliers to support ingredient sourcing and recipe formulation.
- Keeping recipe documentation up to date and organised.
- Supporting across categories on internal sensory testing, preparing samples and owning ingredient testing regime to ensure product quality meets our high-performing standards.
- Contributing to recipe scale-ups and any recipe adjustments required.

What we're looking for in you
This role is best suited to someone with a Food Science or Nutrition Degree and experience in a kitchen, lab or food development environment. This role is all about learning by doing, so we’re looking for someone who’s eager to get hands-on, loves food, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-led environment. You’ll also have:
- A basic understanding of Nutrition, food science, and food safety (e.g. HACCP).
- Strong organisational skills with sharp attention to detail.
- A team player who’s always ready to get stuck in - no task too big or small.
- A curious mind with a love for solving creative and technical challenges.
- Passion for sustainable innovation & continuous improvement.
- Ideally, you'll hold a full UK driving licence.
