Job Purpose

To support the R&D team to deliver the R&D & Innovation agenda for the Biscuit categories. Work cross functionally with the Innovation Funnel process to deliver EPD and NPD to exceed both internal customers (Brand) and external customers expectation. Work together with next generation suppliers, ingredients and packaging to deliver consumer focused products.

What You Will Contribute

  • Manage & maintain the test bakery areas - ensure documentation for QMS/BRC/H&S is completed as required
  • Ensure raw materials are rotated and maintained in line with agreed site allergen policies and GMP
  • Prepare concept samples in response to written briefs recording and recommending any improvements to quality/processability
  • Undertake shelf life evaluation & routine product testing to agreed business frequencies and provide reports from this highlighting any corrective action required
  • Collate standard product samples and arrange their delivery to provide support for sales growth objectives
  • Support the team with scale up trials, plant work, projects - collating data from the trial and reports as required

  • Food related qualification (NVQ or other)
  • Development Assistant experience 2 -5 Years
  • Good level of technical expertise in food processes - ability to create bread/biscuit concepts using the test bakery equipment competently
  • Understanding of the product development cycle, including all aspects of QMS internal procedure
  • Basic understanding of shelf life, microbiology, food spoilage and techniques to achieve expected shelf life through the product develop process
  • Ability to generate a basic recipe independently and take action to resolve basic baking problems.
  • Demonstrates interest in external developments in Food Science, Technology, Sensory Science, Nutrition, Customer policies relating to their own label requirements for new products
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, flexible in your approach
  • Computer literate and comfortable with Microsoft office
