Job Description

Vertiv is seeking an experienced NPDI Sourcing Engineer to join the Global Procurement Team. This role will lead sourcing and procurement activities for assigned product lines throughout the New Product Development and Introduction (NPD/NPI) lifecycle. The successful candidate will serve as the primary procurement interface between Engineering, Commodity Management, Suppliers, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches, supply chain readiness, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery.

The role is responsible for supporting prototype builds, supplier selection, BOM cost management, production transfers, risk mitigation, and procurement deliverables from concept through mass production.

This will be an onsite position and can be based in one of the following facilities: ROI - Burnfoot or Letterkenny, NI - Campsie.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all procurement and sourcing activities throughout the NPI lifecycle, from concept and prototype stages through pilot builds and mass production. Partner closely with Engineering, Commodity Management, Operations, and Suppliers to support successful product launches. Ensure components are sourced from preferred suppliers while meeting cost, quality, lead-time, and supply continuity objectives. Drive supplier readiness and material availability to support key development milestones and production schedules. Support prototype sourcing strategy and coordinate rapid turnaround of prototype materials with Engineering and Purchasing teams. Review supplier quotations, tooling requirements, and manufacturing proposals, providing recommendations based on cost, quality, and risk considerations. Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities, including e-Auctions, value engineering, and supplier negotiations. Own and maintain purchase BOM cost reporting, including tracking cost changes against target pricing. Coordinate with regional and global procurement teams to mitigate supply chain risks and support production transfer activities. Conduct sourcing reviews for critical projects and ensure mitigation actions are completed on time. Lead or participate in NPD/NPI review meetings and support procurement deliverables for stage-gate reviews. Ensure procurement KPIs are accurately reported and drive corrective actions where performance targets are not achieved. Support supplier risk and resiliency assessments to strengthen supply continuity and business readiness. Coordinate launch and ramp-up activities with EMS and manufacturing partners to meet project timelines. Perform other duties as assigned.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
