Pensions Solicitor (NQ – 2 PQE)

London | Specialist Pensions Practice

The Opportunity

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's leading specialist pensions law practices. This boutique firm is recognised for advising many of the country's largest pension schemes, trustees, employers, master trusts and industry providers on complex, high-value pensions matters.

The successful candidate will join a highly regarded team undertaking a genuine mix of contentious and non-contentious pensions work, providing exposure to a breadth of matters rarely available at this level. You will work closely with market-leading partners recognised for their technical excellence, commercial approach and collaborative mentoring style.

This is an ideal role for an NQ to 2 PQE solicitor looking to build a long-term career in pensions law within a specialist environment offering early responsibility, outstanding training and direct client exposure.

The Role

You will advise a broad range of trustee and employer clients across all aspects of occupational pensions law, including:

  • Day-to-day advisory work for defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension schemes.
  • Scheme governance, trustee duties and regulatory compliance.
  • Scheme amendments, benefit changes and member queries.
  • Buy-ins, buyouts and wider de-risking projects.
  • Corporate transactions involving pension considerations.
  • Scheme restructurings, mergers, closures and wind-ups.
  • Investment and funding-related issues.
  • Regulatory matters involving The Pensions Regulator and the Pension Protection Fund.
  • Pensions Ombudsman complaints and dispute resolution.
  • Court applications, breach of trust issues and other contentious pensions matters.
  • Professional negligence and governance-related disputes where pensions issues arise.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
