NQ Associate - Real Estate
Planning (Respondent) Solicitor – Entry-Level Role
Whether working with landowners, developers, or investors, you will be part of a team that is highly responsive to our clients’ needs, focusing on guiding them securely through the complex planning system. Our knowledgeable, practical, and commercial approach ensures we deliver a premium service by developing lasting relationships and deeply understanding our clients' requirements.
Another opportunity to develop skills across a broad range of areas and build expertise in planning strategy, applications, appeals, enforcement, section 106 agreements, CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy), infrastructure deals, environmental law, highways, compulsory purchase, and public law. Our strategy is to secure standalone planning instructions, particularly for larger and more complex projects—often in London—to maximise our technical capabilities.
We collaborate closely with our real estate and corporate teams to support transactions across a diverse client base, including:
- Developers
- Landowners
- Institutional and private investors
- Housebuilders
- Corporate occupiers
- Charities
- Waste and minerals businesses

Roles and Responsibilities
- Undertake research and prepare commercial legal advice on all facets of planning law, including associated areas such as environmental, heritage, and compulsory purchase law. Deliver findings in a succinct, practical, and persuasive manner.
- Draft and negotiate section 106 agreements and infrastructure deals.
- Conduct due diligence and provide planning advice on real estate, funding, and corporate transactions.
- Assist in planning appeals, court challenges, and enforcement matters.
- Support partners and associates while effectively managing your own workload.
- Monitor and prepare insights on legislative and policy changes, contributing to firm-wide intelligence.
- Engage in business development activities, including:
- Attending internal and external events
- Writing press commentary and articles
- Participating in client seminars
- Contribute to the Firm’s knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Compliance with all SRA Standards and Regulations, and adherence to professional principles.

Person Specification
To excel in this role, we seek:
- An England and Wales qualified solicitor (NQ) or someone due to qualify by September 2026.
- Ability to manage your own matters autonomously under supervision and within a team.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- A flexible, proactive approach – willing to go the extra mile when needed.
