Assistant Lawyer – Employment Rights
Department: Employment Rights Location: Manchester (office base near Birmingham for clients) Compensation: £34,709 per annum Application Deadline: 16 July 2026
About the Role
Open to newly qualified (NQ) or 0–2-year post-qualified experience (PQE) candidates seeking to advance their career in employment rights law.
As an Assistant Lawyer, you will:
- Independently manage a caseload of your own complex employment rights cases under close supervision.
- Support existing cases, demonstrating sound case management judgement and theoretical knowledge.
- Develop expertise through collaboration with experienced legal professionals.
- Take cases from inception through to resolution, ensuring strong outcomes for clients.
- Act as a valuable team member, contributing to team goals and excellence in client service.
This role is ideal for motivated, client-focused lawyers ready to grow in a supportive environment specialising in employment law.

Key Responsibilities
- Proven ability to handle employment rights claims efficiently.
- Manage tasks with sharp attention to deadlines.
- Demonstrate effectiveness in client relationships and a passionate, empathic approach.
- Develop a mature grasp of employment dispute resolution.
- Lead cases independently while leveraging broader team input where needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified lawyer (Solicitor or equivalent) with 0–2 years post-qualification experience.
- Strong track record in meeting tight deadlines.
- Theoretical and practical competence in employment law essential.
- Commitment to client-focused outcomes and a collaborative approach.
Skills & Attitude
- Excellent judgement for case progress.
- Ability to independently develop caseloads while seeking guidance.
- Keen interest in deepening your skills within employment law.
