# Assistant Lawyer – Employment Rights (NQ-PQE Position)

This Assistant Lawyer position (ideal for lawyers with 0–2 years’ post-qualification experience) offers an exciting opportunity to sharpen your skills in employment rights law. Based in Manchester, this role provides hands-on experience working within a highly reputable legal team.

You’ll:

  • Manage and progress your own caseload of employment rights claims
  • Assist in complex civil litigation, supporting from case inception to resolution

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Responsibility for independent case management within a structured supervisory framework
  • Trial Experience: Active involvement in trial preparation and hearings across the full employment rights spectrum (e.g., unfair dismissal, harassments, discrimination claims)
  • Bilateral Negotiations: Opportunity to negotiate on behalf of clients in and out of court
  • Collaboration: Contribute to the team’s success while receiving personalised mentorship
  • Continuous Development: Support given to upskill in emerging areas of employment law

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Lawyer (with 0–2 years’ PQE) with a proven aptitude for employment law claims
  • Demonstrated ability to manage busy caseloads effectively while meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
